Irish Photo Archive is a collection of over 3.5 million negatives from the Lensmen Press and Public Relations Photographic Agency, founded in 1952 by Andy Farren and Padraig MacBrian. These images record 60 years of Irish history – from visits by JFK, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Muhammed Ali, Grace Kelly to events like the Rose of Tralee or political campaigns, down to snapshots of everyday life in the towns and villages across Ireland.
Irish Photo Archive is currently digitizing this collection in an attempt to preserve this valuable historical social and cultural resource. The images will be fully searchable by the public on our website, www.irishphotoarchive.ie, once digitized. Individuals can order prints or digital licensed copies can be made available to the media for broadcast or publication purposes. Please send us an email on info@irishphotoarchive.ie or call +353879868226 if you have any questions. Our Lensmen Collection commences in 1952 and we only have a small amount of the collection scanned so if you have a date and event we can check or Diaries and Ledgers to see if we have it and we would be happy to scan it for you. We must restrict digital circulation to licenced use only to preserve the integrity of the collection for the owner. other great photo archives www/nli.ie Independent and Times Newspaper and Newspaperarchive.com
