The newly created Inverness & Cromarty Firth Green Freeport (ICFGF) is backed by Port of Cromarty Firth, Global Energy Group, Port of Inverness, Highland Deephaven, Port of Ardesier and The Highland Council, alongside over thirty regional and national businesses, public sector organisations and academic bodies.
ICFGF expects to achieve Green Freeport status in May 2024 which will maximise local and Scotland-wide benefits from a pipeline of renewable energy projects placing the Highlands at the heart of the drive towards Net Zero, potentially creating up to 10,250 jobs locally and a total of 16,500 across the UK.
