The Inova Computer Association is a student-led, nonprofit organization that hosts a variety of computer-related events for high school students in the Lower Mainland.
Mission: To stimulate interest in computer science by providing genuinely fun, hands-on, and friendly programming competitions to all high school students in the Lower Mainland.
Events include, but are not limited to:
IT Conferences, which will have a variety of experts in this field speaking to students about IT (Information Technology). This is aimed to give students who are pursuing careers in IT advice and directions.
Graphic Arts and Animation Showcase, which is an occasional art showcase competition on our website. Students will be welcome to submit their own artwork and video to us for display. The artwork will be judged on aspects such as creativity, concept, and skill. Winning pieces will be featured and their creators will win prizes.
Website Design Competitions, which are hosted with the intention of educating students in HTML, CSS, and Javascript. The objective of the competition is to design a fully functioning website with following requirements in a limited amount of time. Students will be judged on several criteria, such as user interface (UI) or user experience (UX), functionality, and fulfillment of the requirements.
App Development, which will challenge students who are interested in mobile development to produce a fully functional Android app to be submitted to the Google Play store. The goal is to educate students on the basics of mobile app development and to introduce them to Android Studio and the Java programming language. The competition will have no criteria, as the sole objective is to get your app to obtain the most downloads relative to your competitors.
