The Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) was established in the year 1999 in Mumbai. IPA represents research-based National Pharmaceutical Companies in India. The IPA works closely with the Government on policy related matters and seeks to imbibe the experiences of the generic pharmaceutical industry internationally. It is also partnering with the Government in the evolution of a patent regime and upgradation of the regulatory regime in India.
Collectively, IPA member companies account for over 85 per cent of the private sector investment in pharmaceutical Research & Development. They also contribute to more than 80 per cent of the country's exports of drugs & pharmaceuticals.
