Independent Design is a boutique design and consulting firm located in the heart of Quincy, MA. As a Massachusetts certified woman owned business we collaborate with building owners, developers, design, and construction professionals to resolve design, process, and technology challenges. Our team specializes in a diverse spectrum of projects including residential, commercial, historic development, accessibility, graphic design, custom woodwork, and technology. DESIGN Our firm has 20+ years of experience providing full building design services for new construction, additions and renovations. Our residential work includes custom homes, historic renovation/adaptation, remodeling for universal design and accessibility, and aging-in-place. Our portfolio includes preservation and adaptive reuse of structures in Quincy, MA, Exeter, NH, and Newport, RI. We have worked with numerous town preservation groups, state historic commissions, and the National Historic Trust to ensure that significant and valuable old buildings remain a vibrant part of our history. TECHNOLOGY Independent Design provides expert consulting services for technology resources. This includes Building Information Modeling strategy and management. We work with building owners and professionals implementing best practices in Revit and Navisworks software. This includes process management services for BIM contracts, execution planning, level of development, staff training, and custom project content. We have consulted with design firms, developers and owners to provide BIM training, implementation process, and support services. Our staff includes an Autodesk certified software trainer, and we have presented on BIM best practices nationwide. PROJECT MANAGEMENT We partner with building owners to assist with designer and contractor selection, project schedule and cost management. We also provide expertise as a code consultant and for ADA/MAAB handicap accessibility solutions.
