Illinois District Of The Barbershop Harmony Society

The District’s Mission: The Illinois District fosters a state of close harmony by bringing the joy and excitement of music to all people. We have a strong focus on educating youth in music, teamwork, empathy, and self-worth in our Youth in Harmony events held annually throughout the District. We extend the same to our members, now both men and women of all ages, weekly at local chapter meetings and rehearsals. Our District is very proud of its history, having ushered eleven quartets (four senior's quartets), and three choruses to the coveted International Gold, determined by judges covering 3 categories at annual competitions held throughout North America. We are one of sixteen regional districts within the Barbershop Harmony Society, comprising twenty-eight chapters, representing over six hundred members, and showcasing at least thirty quartets. We are the only District that is wholly contained within a US state, so our tagline, “A State of Close Harmony” rings true for us!
