If Opera

Formerly known as Iford Arts, If Opera is a new opera company with a difference. Building on our already unconventional spirit, from 2022 we will be taking a brave new approach to opera. We want to bring opera into the fabric of our everyday lives, to create shows that have an impact long after the applause ends and to spark a love of opera in the hearts and minds of those who are yet to experience it. It’s going to take courage, creativity and ambition, but we feel the time has come for change. We aim to do this with better deals for artists and equality for everyone on stage. With more diverse stories and accessible tickets so everyone is invited. And with events and education that exist beyond the stage. Our productions will continue to be staged in original and unique settings, but we’ll be pushing the boundaries even further and exploring new partnerships and possibilities. We can’t wait to start this evolution to what we believe will be better opera for all. Join us in boldly reimagining the way things are done and rethinking opera – a conversation that begins with ‘What if..?’
