Established in 2001, the International Studies Institute (ISI Florence) is a leading center for international education in Florence, Italy, and recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education. The Institute offers academic programs rooted in the liberal arts tradition, and hosts over 600 students per year. Today, ISI Florence maintains two locations in the city center, Palazzo Rucellai and Palazzo Bargagli, and offers semester, summer, and full-year study abroad programs, with a wide variety of courses. ISI Florence is one of the founding institutions of a consortium for American and Australian public universities whose members include: Pennsylvania State University, University of Connecticut, University of Maryland, University of Virginia, Arizona State University, and University of Melbourne. The Institute also maintains academic affiliations with other colleges and universities, including Roger Williams, Marywood, Northeastern, Rutgers, Bryn Mawr, Connecticut College, and the Università di Firenze.
