Our mission is to create architecture that has its foundation at the intersection of environmental conservation, restoration, and design. IM/KM was formed in 2008 when husband and wife team Ivan and Kristin Morales brought their combined experience at award-winning New York City design firms to a 1,000-person surf town on the Pacific coast of Panama. Began it all with a 14-year project spanning independent buildings, the formation of Reserva Ecologica Panamaes - a non-profit ecological reserve, and the development of Studio Tlalli furniture lab. The firm evolved their role as architects to become environmental stewards first and foremost - the design approach that has come to define the practice and mission of IM/KM.
