IEEEmadC (ieeemadc.org) is an MGA Innovation award-winning annual global contest for IEEE student members on the development of mobile applications, organized by an enthusiastic group of IEEE volunteers for students across the globe. The uniqueness of this contest is that all developed applications need to be in accordance with STEM disciplines and aligned with the IEEE goals and values of ‘Advancing Technology for Humanity’. The contest serves as motivation to reach the main project goals such as educate and encourage students to build their engineering, team and entrepreneurial skills in order to pursue an engineering career, become more competitive in the industry or potentially start their own company.
Launched in 2013 as IEEE Region 8 project, IEEEmadC has grown into a global venture and has been organized four times with continued growth, proving its viability and impact. In total, more than 1,300 participants have submitted more than 700 ideas, from which 175 have been successfully implemented and developed as mobile applications to date. Furthermore, more than 250 IEEEmadC ambassadors in total have organized numerous lectures, workshops and webinars around the globe with more than 1500 participants.
IEEEmadC aims is to improve further and become one of the world’s leading mobile applications development contests. A global resource portal is planned for aspiring mobile application development individuals, providing education in the field of mobile application development and turning ideas into startups, as well as a repository to download and utilize mobile applications by the general public to create a change and ease in their lives.
