The world is growing increasingly fascinated with the Nordic countries. Education system, welfare state model, lifestyle, design, cuisine, books, movies - everything Scandinavian countries put their spin on has acquired a distinguishing hallmark that increased its value in the eyes of the global market. The label “Scandinavian” has become a shortcut to brand success. It invites trust by promising quality and good taste. We are inspired by the simplicity, healthfulness, warmth and happiness of Scandinavian way of life. By founding the School for Nordic Languages, we commit to applying some of the life lessons from them as well. The school for Nordic languages and the translation centre were founded in 2015. Our focus is major Northern European languages: Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, and Icelandic. Our community is connected through our shared knowledge and experience gained in Scandinavian schools and universities. “Šiaurės kryptimi” employs tutors and translators who want to share their expertise and work alongside like-minded professionals, bound by their collective drive for lifelong learning, discovery and love for their region of interest. In 2022 we decided to combine our core values — Scandinavian collectivism, Lithuanian flexibility and Nordic perseverance — through offering Lithuanian language classes alongside those for the Nordic languages. Now we hold our course and keep going forward. We strive for inspired action, flexibility and opennes to novelty, balancing time-tested solutions with new ways of thinking. Our mission is to connect Nordic and Baltic values. We hope to transform this fusion from our foundational bedrock into a powerful engine that would drive us towards intercultural dialogue, unity, and progress, and keep our compass needle pointing north.
