Hunter Medicare Local is a not for profit organisation which provides high quality support services to primary health care clinicians in the Hunter region.
Our services are provided to GPs, physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists and other allied health professionals to improve healthcare in the local community. Alongside these services, our team provides unique programs like GP Access After Hours – the first after hours GP service of its kind in Australia, Connecting Care – a chronic disease management program with Registered Nurse Care Coordinators, the Closing the Gap program which aims to reduce the current disadvantage experienced by Indigenous Australians in the health sector and the Psychology Service, providing support to adults, families and children.
The last day operation for Hunter Medicare Local was June 30 2015. From July 1 Hunter Primary Care, which has been trading as Hunter Medicare Local, began trading under its own name.
