Hubei University of Technology is located in Wuhan, the provincial capital of Hubei. As a famous historical and cultural city of China, Wuhan has the biggest college student population (over 1.2 million) among major cities of the world.
Hubei University of Technology is a multi-discipline university with Engineering as its specialty, and covering other disciplines such as Liberal Arts, Science, Economics, Management, Law and Education. It was originally established in 1952 as Hubei Academy of Agricultural Machinery. In 1984, it merged with Hubei Institute of Light Industry to form Hubei Polytechnic Institute, and was renamed as Hubei University of Technology in 2004.
The university has an area of over 1.06 km² and a floor area of more than 900,000 m². It has complete teaching, research, entertainment, sports and logistics facilities, basic and professional laboratories. The library is the largest (46,000 m² ) of all higher education colleges of Hubei, and has an extensive inventory of books and digital resources. The university also has a safe and fast campus network, and smart and convenient service platforms.
The university has 1,200 full-time teachers including 530 professors and assistant professors, 483 postgraduate student tutors and doctoral student tutors. The university also employs over 200 domestic and foreign part-time professors from famous universities, research institutes, and large enterprises at home and abroad.
HBUT has diverse international interactions and cooperative programs, and has established partnerships with universities and research institutes from more than 10 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany, France, Britain, Czech, Finland, Canada, Australia, Italy, Kazakhstan, and Taiwan. The university has over 10 international joint education programs with 1,500 enrolled students.
