East London is an area of great diversity of community, but that local diversity is not necessarily reflected in the business community that thrives there. It’s been proved in a variety of reports (e.g. Race in the Workplace, Allbright survey) that diversity adds to the bottom line of businesses. (And therefore our country’s GDP). London's firms wish to recruit from diverse backgrounds but may find it challenging. We will train talented people from groups who may not otherwise have a robust network or route into work, & connect them with the companies who are in need of that talent. We will prepare our cohorts for the next stage in their career, & in turn feed these firms with the diversity of talent they need. Think of it as a real world ‘Finishing School’ for the next generation. It’s a bridge between academic & business life.
