Houston Cinema Arts Society (HCAS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the cinematic arts in Houston through innovative film screenings, media installations, multi-media performances, and educational initiatives. HCAS flagship programs include the Houston Cinema Arts Festival held annually in November, the CineSpace short film competition (a collaboration with NASA), the Borders | No Borders regional short film competition, and the Black Media Story Summit (a collaboration with Black Public Media, the Austin Film Society, and the Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation).
HCAS partners with a wide variety of cultural, educational, and artistic organizations to provide unique programming year-round, which engages, enriches, and empowers Houston’s diverse communities and cultures through film. HCAS partners include the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Aurora Picture Show, Asia Society Texas Center, University of Houston, Rice University, Winston Contemporary Art, HAAPI Film Festival, Deluxe Theater, and many others.
