The seeds of our law firm were planted on August 13, 1913, when the Houston Daily Post announced General Maurice Hirsch planned to open a law office. In 1927, Mark Westheimer joined General Hirsch as a partner and Hirsch & Westheimer took on the name by which we are recognized today.
Our founders' culture of stability, hard work, service, professionalism and loyalty has now passed to a new generation of attorneys born years after General Hirsch and Mr. Westheimer prepared their last legal agreement. If our founders returned to the firm today they would notice those same values remain at the core of our practice. They would also witness that the attorneys at Hirsch & Westheimer are long term members of the firm despite the trend of the last decade for attorneys to move from firm to firm.
While our founders would hear many familiar names among the clients of the firm, they would also see that the firm now embraces clients not just from Houston but across the United States and include individuals, families, estates, major financial institutions and American and foreign business interests engaged in real estate development and management, upstream oil and gas, construction, insurance, retailing, wholesaling, manufacturing and merchandising.
With the continuity of our practice, we stand today as a historical landmark in Houston’s business and legal community.
