Heartlands High School is a co-educational secondary school located in the Wood Green area of the London Borough of Haringey. The school, which opened in 2010, provides education for students aged 11-16.
At Heartlands we take our responsibility to provide an inclusive, high quality education seriously. We are passionate about creating a commitment to learning in our students and in expanding their development beyond that which can be achieved through tests. At our core, we are driven by a strong moral purpose: committed to equality and diversity. An outward facing school that actively seeks partnerships with those looking to enhance the life chances of young people. Embracing innovation in teaching and learning, in curriculum design and helping our students to act responsibly to ensure they understand their role as citizens in a larger community.
We believe that good lessons lead to good behaviour. Our aim is to deliver good lessons all the time. Staff create strong routines within lessons and set clear expectations for all the students in our care. We pride ourselves on developing outstanding teachers and support staff to ensure the best possible academic and pastoral support for our students.
We nurture leadership in our students, staff and governors, ensuring accountability, a clear vision, transparency and fairness. Or staff are the key to unlocking the potential of our students and as such we ensure that we look after them in turn. We are committed to making teaching a great career and lifetime vocation.
We are committed to ongoing staff CPD and use BlueSky to track and support training/CPD. Depending on needs, staff are placed on a training pathway. Our CPD plan is released each September and includes a range of internal training sessions before and after school as well as on inset days. Some examples of supported external training: include NPQSL; NPQML; NPQH; Outstanding Teacher Programme; Developing Teacher Programme; and Exam Moderation Training.
