I have been teaching yoga for the past 12 years. The turning point in my practice came when I learned the Gayatri Mantra as part of a personal yoga therapy session, which I practiced to overcome barriers. The Sanskrit word 'mantra' can translate to an instrument of thought, or a mind instrument.
A year after completing my 200-hr Yoga Instructor certification, I knew I needed to go deeper, both for myself and to help others. I completed a 500 hr. Yoga Teacher / Comprehensive Yoga Therapy certification through Welkin YogaLife Institute. Since then, I have completed CanFitPro certifications in Fitness Instruction, Active Aging, and Healthy Eating and Weight Loss Coaching and further training in yoga and nutrition.
I have also completed training in Together in Movement and Exercise (T.I.M.E.). through the University Health Network. I taught yoga, fitness, and T.I.M.E. at the Abilities Centre in Whitby and also taught yoga and fitness for the Town of Whitby and City of Oshawa 55+ programs.
When I reached my mid-40s, I started experiencing menopause symptoms. I found a scientifically evidenced program that helped me improve my lifestyle and decrease my symptoms. After experiencing the benefits from Dr. Wendy Sweet's (PhD) My Menopause Transformation Circuit Breaker program, I completed Wendy's Menopause Practitioner Course, so that I educate other women on these lifestyle solutions to help them live their best life through peri-menopause, menopause, and post-menopause.
