HCCA is a small non-profit community based chronic disease primary prevention organization. Primary prevention means changing conditions and behaviors so the risky behaviors like smoking or vaping, never start. We work -1) primarily behind the scenes with businesses and organizations to create comprehensive tobacco-free policies; 2) with community-based coalitions to reduce youth substance use, 3) with networks of like minded leaders to build the links between local farms, fisheries and food with schools and institutions. We also offer classes on ways to eat healthier, ways to be more active, and the challenges and pitfalls of vaping, marijuana, and other risky substance use. HCCA also focuses on empowering youth at both the middle and high school levels to identify systemic problems and identify ways their voices will help make change. There is more. Visit the website.
