Hand of Solomon aims to inspire and elevate Native Canadian arts and fashion by invoking expression, power and social issues through its imagery and design- all while producing highend, authentic, contemporary, and edgy statement pieces of jewellery art. Hand of Solomon was established in 2013 and manufactures all of its jewellery-art by hand and uses precious metals and stones such as gold, platinum, sterling silver, diamonds and other gemstones. Hand of Solomon is located in Toronto and is proudly Canadian. Hand of Solomon distinguishes itself by having a unique and refreshing take on traditional Native Canadian wears, stories, and artwork and producing in a more hip, modern context through imagery and medium by mixing metals with leather, beads, porcupine quills, or something that has not yet been explored. Its jewellery is not just for Native peoples but also for all people whom have a love for nature, beauty, Mother Earth and fashion
Louise Solomon (Ojibwe) is a multimedia artist and goldsmith who finds inspiration from Mother Earth and her cultural heritage. She likes to mix modern day techniques and forms while still incorporating or drawing inspiration from raw materials like claws, teeth, sweetgrass and other organic materials. Louise studied Studio Art at the University of Guelph where she received her Bachelor of Arts and then continued her studies at George Brown College for Goldsmithing.
Matthew Solomon is Louise's younger brother who has also attended George Brown College for Jewellery Art. He has worked at Hand of Solomon since 2015 and has a keen eye for perfection. Matthew has a more traditional fashion ascetic and focuses more on mens fashion. He will be coming out with his own line in the Spring of 2017.
