Hafıza Merkezi - The Truth Justice Memory Center works with other civil society organisations in order to implement the processes and mechanisms of transitional justice. In addition to documenting human rights violations, Hafıza Merkezi monitors legal cases that can serve as important precedents and generates public opinion polls for those cases. By providing explanations of grave human rights violations across broad segments of society, as well as by acknowledging and seeking redress for victims, Hafıza Merkezi aims to strengthen collective peace and democracy.
The Working Areas:
1. Documentation: Establishing common standards and formats for the recording and retrieving of information on human rights violations to encourage and facilitate sharing and exchange between local, national and international human rights organizations.
2. Legal Advocacy: Breaking the cycle of impunity of the state; ensuring accountability through legal proceedings;
3. Dissemination: Communicating a different version of truth about the human rights violations through innovative means;
4. Empowerment, Cooperation and Capacity Building: Empowering national and local human rights
organizations and encouraging cooperation through the provision of methods and tools of transitional justice.
