Hai Africa is a nonprofit organization that was established in 2015 as a way to responsibly make a difference in the Kabiria community. Hai is a center that prides itself on financing the development of children, women, and local businesses by offering support, education, and training to the community. In addition, Hai also promotes children's wellbeing and quality of life through healthy plant-based nutrition and holistic education based on the principles of Waldorf education.
A volunteering trip to Africa turned into a dream to go further and do more. From the vision of a Brazilian, and with the help of a local, Hai Africa was born. Starting from a small house in Kabiria (a region on the outskirts of Kenya's capital, Nairobi) Hai started its activities when it received and promoted creative and educational activities for 13 children on May 4th, 2015.
Over the years, Hai has grown into a center that serves more than 40 children (known as 'babies'), has 6 employees, empowers 15 women (kindly known as 'mamas'), and finances the education of 3 teachers and the continuing education for 29 children in elementary school. What was intended to only be a space to offer food and activities to children has become an institution that positively transforms the lives of those who are in this community.
