With one foot in the U.S.A. and one foot planted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (D.R.C.), HTSCongo serves remote rural communities in the D.R.C. We envision a future in which all people of the D.R.C. can take charge of their own resources and live in a healthy and productive environment.
Working in conjunction with the people of the D.R.C. and other partners, our mission is to transfer technologies that create sustainable access to clean drinking water, proper sanitation, and hygiene (W.A.S.H.) education while minimizing the impact on the environment.
Values and Guiding Principles:
1) Respect: Acknowledging cultural differences, it is crucial that community members support and are engaged in our work. We do this by listening to and developing respectful relationships with villagers: they are our teachers and guides, as much as we are theirs.
2) Empowerment: We believe that rolling up our sleeves and working side by side with community members fosters sustainability and strengthens the community. We employ and train local villagers during the building of W.A.S.H. facilities, empowering them to become teams of skilled technicians capable of building and caring for their own systems in the future.
3) Integrity: HTSCongo conducts business in a way that is honest, transparent, and ethical. HTSCongo strives to be a good steward of the resources bequeathed to it.
4) Collaboration: HTSCongo seeks to build strategic partnerships with local governments, NGOs, self-help groups, community-based organizations, and other likeminded national/international organizations. We have the proven ability to provide the training and technical expertise necessary to design, complete, and manage the construction of W.A.S.H. facilities.
5) Respect for the Environment: HTSCongo promotes and uses earth friendly alternatives in all our construction projects and endeavors.
