HTI strives to serve as an organization dedicated to bridging the digital divide in our communities of service.
Our mission first lies in obtaining old or unusable laptops from generous corporate, non-profit, and individual donors. A team of experienced professionals applies the latest technology to eliminate the old system along with its data and replace it with Google Chromebook technology.
We then donate the newly refurbished devices to community service organizations with the greatest needs.
HTI does not only provide useful technology to groups that need it the most. By taking old laptops and restoring their life, we do our part to prevent the global accumulation of e-waste.
Instead of ending life in a landfill or traditionally dangerous Chinese disassembly facilities, laptops converted by HTI enjoy new life. Stemming the flow of e-waste prevents pollution and also creates less burdens on resources used for ethical recycling.
HTI is a small, but mighty, non-profit established in 2018 as a 501 (c) 3. We currently serve Vance, Wake, and Durham counties with plans to expand our scope in the coming years.
