In 1934, Harnischfeger Corporation employees in West Milwaukee, Wisconsin established a credit union to provide a source of credit at a fair interest rate and the opportunity for its members to improve their economic and social conditions. In 1986, the membership voted to expand the charter to a community credit union serving any persons living or working in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties.
Today, Guardian Credit Union is the largest credit union headquartered in Milwaukee County, serving over 35,000 members with assets of over $225 million. Our current membership eligibility includes anyone working for one of our 80 Select Employer Groups and anyone living or working in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha, or Walworth counties.
Every day more members turn to Guardian as a premier resource for auto loans, mortgages, and savings options.
Mission Statement:
"Guardian Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned, financial cooperative, dedicated to being the member's primary financial institution by providing superior, comprehensive, courteous, and prompt services."
