We propose an innovative diesel engine technology (patented) focused on a new combustion system able to combine intrinsically low exhaust emissions with high thermal efficiency. The basic idea of our new diesel combustion is to control the heat release rate by a gradual supply of an almost homogeneous charge, without relying on exhaust gas recirculation to moderate the reaction. Since the charge is progressively admitted into the combustion chamber, this combustion method was called Homogenous Charge Progressive Combustion (HCPC).
