Great Walstead School was founded in 1925 at Enfield by Mr R J Mowll who always had the vision of a Christian school, set in the country where children could develop academically, creatively, physically and spiritually.
The school is a Christian day and weekly co-educational boarding school with children from 2½- 13 years of age, set in 260+ acres of its own land in the heart of the Sussex countryside, within easy reach of the commuting town of Haywards Heath. Great Walstead exists to provide a first class education for boys and girls in a caring Christian environment so that each individual is inspired to reach his or her full potential in mind, body and spirit.
We have a strong and professional partnership founded on trust, mutual respect and integrity, between pupils, staff, parents and governors working - together towards a shared vision.
A former parent once described the school as a “place of mud and love” and this describes wonderfully why Great Walstead School is such a special place.
Underpinning all this are the firm foundations in learning that we lay down for the children here. Our experienced teachers have high expectations of the children: we encourage them to work hard and to do their best. Our record of academic achievement is impressive.
Our Vision:
Our Vision at Great Walstead School is to inspire all our pupils to achieve their potential in all areas, through the support and dedication of our staff in a caring Christian environment.
