Global Telemedicine brings high quality health care to the underserved using affordable technology.
We offer a system for deploying electronic medical records and telemedicine in low-budget, under-served locations. Global Telemedicine brings together hospitals that want telemedicine and Rotarians who want their community to benefit from access to telemedicine and people who want to help provide it.
We have doctors at the top of their career who donate some of their time to our international panel. We offer funds to help buy the equipment needed to get started, and the international resources of Rotary clubs worldwide. The network of expertise available is expanding and has proved to be very valuable.
Global OffSite Care has projects in ten countries as of August 2018: Philippines, India, Nepal, China, Zimbabwe, Congo, Haiti, Uganda, Rwanda, and Nigeria.
The Global Telemedicine Program works with Heberden Telemedicine Foundation (heberdentelemed.org) and Rotarians to bring high quality medical care to the underserved at hospitals and around the world. We use telemedicine with affordable technology and leverage the Internet to make expert medical advice to people who would otherwise have little or no access to a specialist.
We have a threefold program to improve health care:
1) Continuing medical education (CME)
2) Teleconsults providing a resource to doctors on the front line of healthcare
3) Access to a low cost electronic medical record system.
Our clients need to have an Internet connection with sufficient bandwidth to support the interaction to allow telemedicine to work. We have a panel of dozens of specialists on call, ready to help diagnose patients in intensive care or emergency scenarios.
