We are the world's leading non-profit organization working to end human and animal deaths from rabies. Every year an estimated 59,000 people and countless dogs die of, or because of, this preventable disease.
We work with major global partners (WHO, FAO, WOAH) and governments to bring an end to this needless loss of life.
We provide technical assistance to governments in endemic areas to help them make the most of their budgets and move towards sustainable rabies elimination. Our projects have protected over 5 million people from the threat of the disease and vaccinated over 400,000 dogs.
We support regional elimination efforts through our regional rabies control networks (e.g., Pan African Rabies Control Network –PARACON) and promote global coordination through our Partners for Rabies Prevention group.
We initiated, with the US CDC, and coordinate World Rabies Day, September 28. A day of action and awareness raising - particularly in at-risk communities.
And as part of our mission, we are galvanising international support to raise the profile of the disease through the End Rabies Now campaign: endrabiesnow.org #EndRabiesNow.
