Exploration for hydrocarbons in Ghana started in the 19th century when oil seepages were sited onshore in the Western Region. Commercial production started in the late 70's in the offshore Saltpond area in the Central basin of Ghana.
PNDC Law 64 established the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) as a statutory corporation with commercial functions to handle the country's Exploration and Production activities. GNPC started operations in 1985. In December 2010 first oil was produced from the Jubilee field, which was discovered in 2007.
The oil and gas industry continuously requires new ways of optimizing exploration and production.
With increasing activities, the industry is always looking for qualified and highly specialised employees from a wide range of backgrounds ranging from Petro-Technical professionals such as Petroleum Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists to Petro-Business professionals like Human Resource Practitioners, Accountants, Economic and Financial Analysts among others.
The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation engages the right mix of talent in the delivery of its mandate.
