Gate Theatre

Established as a theatre company in 1928 by Hilton Edwards and Micheál MacLiammóir, the Gate Theatre offered Dublin audiences an introduction to the world of European and American theatre and also to classics from the modern and Irish repertoire. Registered Charity Number CHY 11638. Now in its 90th year, acclaimed directors, emerging Irish artistic talent and award-winning drama continue to take centre stage at the Gate. Our upcoming productions in Spring/Summer 2019 include Lucy Kirkwood’s 'The Children' starring Marie Mullen, Sean McGinley and Ger Ryan in a dramatic exploration of climate change, and David Eldridge’s 'Beginning' with Marty Rea and Eileen Walsh as a couple in those first fragile moments of potential love.
