Nestled on the slopes of Redwood Valley, in Mendocino County, California, three generations of the Frey family help to produce fine organic wines at the nation's first organic winery. For over 30 years our family has been growing organic grapes with a tradition of sustainability and nourishing a love of the land.
From vine to glass, we bring you America’s first certified organic, biodynamic, and non-GMO verified wines. We farm 250 acres of Biodynamic wine grapes and work with over 30 local organic growers to fulfill our fruit needs. Our organic wines are fermented with the nation's first certified organic yeast and our biodynamic wines are fermented with native yeast. We never add any sulfites or preservatives to our wines, relying on excellent fruit quality to produce excellent wines.
A passion for natural wine chemistry, the use of premium organic grapes, and a careful attentiveness during the winemaking process are the foundation of our wine making process. Wine has been made without sulfites for over 8,000 years. Traditional winemaking methods paired with modern winemaking equipment allow us to combine old and new, yielding wines that are high quality, delicious and additive free.
Frey Vineyards supports your right to know what is in your food. We only purchase GMO free, certified organic yeast. In recent years, genetically engineered wine yeasts have become commercially available, and we support a ban on the sale and use of them. We have been dedicated supporters of GMO labeling campaigns and continue to invest in education and research that will remove genetically engineered ingredients from our food supply.
From our family to yours, Cheers!
