Established in 1991, the French Centre for Research on Contemporary China (CEFC) is an independent research centre supported by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS) with a mission to study political, economic, social and cultural developments in People's Republic China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
The CEFC publishes China Perspectives quarterly. It is an internationally recognised academic journal (SSCI) which focuses on contemporary political, social, economic and cultural evolutions of the PRC, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The journal is available on 8 international databases (including EBSCO, JSTOR and more) and on the CEFC website (https://www.cefc.com.hk/china-perspectives/issues/).
The centre is based in Hong Kong with a branch office in Taipei (Academia Sinica) since 1994. The centre works closely with local and international academics throughout China and beyond, including through PhD fellowships.
