The Förderverein Humanitas (FVH) is a charitable association founded in 1998 in Zurich, Switzerland. It has been registered in The Gambia since 2013. Since its foundation, the FVH has invested more than CHF 2 million in education, health and agriculture projects. In Switzerland, the association is managed by a board of volunteers, which ensures that
around 98% of the financial resources go straight to project work in The Gambia.
Thanks to our extensive experience in development cooperation, we know that education is the only sustainable form of development assistance for a country like The Gambia, be it schooling for children or vocational training for young adults.
The catalyst for our current focal project, the Tanji Education Center for Permaculture (TEC), was the fact that, in the past decade, The Gambia has become one of the main countries of origin of African refugees. As a result, we wanted to launch a project to give young people the prospect of a secure livelihood in their own country.
