OUR HISTORY
Our story begins at the North Rocks Central School for Blind and Deafblind Children. In 1978, we were established by a group of parents and teachers who wanted to ensure that their children had a pathway to independent living as young adults and beyond.
We were the world鈥檚 first public-education and parent-run organisation with the aim of providing supported accommodation for people who are blind or deafblind. Former students from the school were the first co-residents of our very first home, which opened in Ashfield in 1983 as Australia鈥檚 first family group home.
