First Cut Studios

First Cut Studios is a celebration of film that aims to highlight the social impact of cinema. The movie review YouTube Channel was founded by Andres “Ace” Cabrera and Robert Butler III. The two film critics created the channel to house their first podcast "The Meaning Of." "The Meaning Of" podcast began in September 2017 when Andres and Robert Butler III worked together on the production crew for the Schmoes Know Show. They often discussed everything from hip-hop to politics and took enjoyed taking deep dives into movies together. Eventually, the duo began recording TMO from Andres' tiny, scorching hot apartment - leading to fiery, passionate discussions about filmmakers, genres, and franchises, etc. From the beginning, their goal has been to shine a light on diverse voices in Hollywood. The podcast began as part of the Schmoes Know Podcast Network, then moved to the Collider Podcast network. By 2019, "The Meaning Of" became fully independent, so Andres and Robert used their inaugural podcast to lay the foundational concrete for the First Cut Studios YouTube page. With the crucial producing and social media help provided Sabrina Ramirez, the First Cut Studios YouTube page has grown to over 5,000 subscribers. Moreover, over the past year, First Cut has seen about 2,000 more TikTok followers and never-higher engagement on Instagram. Additionally, the channel's partnership with Geeks of Color gives us access to social media accounts with over 100k followers across Twitter, IG, and TikTok.
