We at the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute (FGI) are passionate about research and SDI. We are eager to create new solutions and make discoveries that might help society. Our community consists of about 120 people. Perhaps you’d like to join us?
We provide a scientific basis for Finnish maps and geospatial information, and carry out research and development on methods for the measurements, data acquisition, processing and exploiting of geospatial information.
We provide knowledge and value added information for public-sector bodies and other providers and users of spatial information. We co-operate with industry, universities, and governmental organisations.
--------------
FGI was established (under the name Finnish Geodetic Institute) in 1918. We have 5 departments: Geodesy and Geodynamics, Geoinformatics and Cartography, Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry, Navigation and Positioning, and SDI Services.
In the beginning of 2015, the Finnish Geodetic Institute was merged to National Land Survey of Finland (NLS), and the name of the institute changed to Finnish Geospatial Research Institute (FGI).
