Felt Tips

Hello, I'm Chris Pelling a designer and art director with over 15 years experience helping both large and small brands communicate with their audiences. I’ve been plying my trade a Crush Creative (www.crushed.co.uk) for most of this time and Felt Tips is my first foray into working as a freelance designer, art director and general (design) problem solver. Why Felt Tips? Well, i believe in the leg work that needs to be done before hitting the computer, the pen is mightier than the apple, or something like that. My background is in traditional print design and I still have a love of these analog processes. More recently however, a diverse portfolio of clients has lead me to be exploring more branding, photographic, interactive, large scale and moving image projects. I think the core of my skills lie in being an ideas based designer and strategist and it's this concept based approach that can be moved into these and other mediums. I believe that the project should lead the design and firmly believe in substance over style, but my youth spent surfing, skateboarding, traveling and watching bad horror movies still fuel my love for the trashy, the obscure and the loud.
