Feed The World offers a unique approach to solving the hunger problem for these rural farming families. FTW teaches them to grow and eat their own food first. Appropriate crops are added to the mix of that which has been grown. These varieties address the nutritional deficiencies inherent in the family and the community. For their own daily sustenance, families are not dependent on the market of a single crop.
The FTW model produces strong, healthy families and a production surplus. That surplus is usually many times greater and more valuable than the traditional harvest of a single crop on a small plot of land. From fish, chicken, vegetable, fruit, and field crop production, the family’s potential income is many times greater than before.
In the many rural communities where the SRA model is applicable, a family that grows and eats all of its own food and generates an additional thousand dollars annual income is a wealthy family indeed. This is an achievable goal.
