On September 27, 2022, FedNat Insurance Company (“FNIC”) was placed into receivership by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR).
The Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) now has authority over FNIC’s operations; including bank accounts.
A copy of the Liquidation Order for FedNat Insurance Company is available on the Department’s website, www.myfloridacfo.com/division/receiver.
The Department is currently gathering claim files and claim data to forward the information to applicable GAs. As a result, there may be a slight delay in claim processing during this transitional period. The Department’s website, www.myfloridacfo.com/division/receiver, will be updated as appropriate regarding the claim transfer process.
A Guaranty Association ("GA") is a nonprofit corporation statutorily created to provide a mechanism for the payment of policy related loss claims and unearned premium when an insurance company is liquidated.
