FamilyCook Productions supports communities with field-tested and evidence-based culinary nutrition education. We empower youth with the ability to prepare nutritious meals from around the globe, and we inspire them to share these skills with friends, family and their communities. Over the past 20 years, our programs have reached more than 300,000 families and are active in schools and community organizations across the US.
MISSION
To bring people of all ages together around delicious, affordable, fresh food while positively impacting their health and well-being.
PROGRAMS
We offer schools, community-based groups and other organizations a variety of field-tested, evidence-based curricula that teach nutrition through cooking. Our programs are designed to reach 50% more people with the same dollars and have embedded measurements to determine impact. Our curricula and trainings are designed to support long-term sustainability.
• Teen Battle Chef is active in over 100 schools across the country and alumni have been featured on Food Network’s Chopped. More than 85% of participants improve their diet and more than 55% influence dietary improvements among family and friends.
• Willow, our pre-school program, has served over 20,000 WIC participants in more than 13 states.
IMPACT
Empowers Youth • In each of our programs, kids bring home healthy recipes, advocate for fresh food in their communities and demonstrate cooking to their friends and family.
Driven by Research • Our programs have all been evaluated by research, including a publication in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior in September 2011.
Improves Academics • Schools who offer Teen Battle Chef report improved school attendance and engagement. Their students are more motivativated to graduate from high school and attend college, and many go on to pursue health-related careers.
