We are an independent not-for-profit organisation applying internationally recognised Fair Trade standards to the IT industry. The Fair Trade Software Foundation is focused on improving economic prospects for youth in African countries through sustainable digital employment. We aim to create growth and opportunity in software development and other sectors in developing countries through global partnerships that provide knowledge transfer and mentoring.
We promote partnerships not outsourcing, and since our Founding in 2011 we have delivered new skills, mentorship, knowledge transfer, and helped build international linkages among software developers between Africa and Europe.
Membership of the Fair Trade Software Foundation is free. Membership is open to ICT Companies of all sizes in both developed and developing countries. Supporting organisations such as academic institutions and NGOs are also welcome to join, as are individuals such as technology consultants or members of the public who are enthusiastic about our work. Any person or organisation interested in becoming a member of the Foundation must demonstrate compliance with membership criteria and ongoing membership requirements.
