Established in 1972 to meet the needs of the education courses of other undergraduate programs at Unicamp, the School of Education - FE expanded its operations in the training of Education professionals with the establishment of the undergraduate program in Education (1974) and the implementation of the master’s (1975) and doctorate (1980) programs in Education. At the graduate level, the School is responsible for the Education program and the program of Integrated Education in Chemistry and Physics (in conjunction with 2 other units at Unicamp) and also provides courses to other teaching programs at the University. Considered one of the most important Education schools in Latin America, its graduate programs play a crucial role in the training of higher education personnel in Brazil. Faculty members are organized into research groups that address many topics in the field of education. Graduate and undergraduate students, as well as researchers in a web of national and international relationships participate in investigative projects conducted by the different research groups. Institutions in several Brasilian states and foreign countries such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, the USA and Uruguay integrate this network. The numerous national and international cooperation agreements have also allowed the professors and graduate students of the unit to participate in exchange programs between different institutions. FE does more than educate professionals for teaching and research. It effectively contributes to the formulation of the national perspective on Education by proposing policies and programs and through the participation of its faculty members in administrative and deliberative bodies at the regional and national levels.
