Fulham Good Neighbours, founded in 1966, was awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services in 2019.
We support 475 older and disabled people living in Fulham in the Home & Garden, Community & Online. We are supported by a small staff team of seven, two consultants & 114 local volunteers.
In 2021, 100% beneficiaries surveyed agreed that FGN creates a 'community where neighbours look out & care for each other'; 100% stated they would recommend FGN to their neighbours.
We aim:
• to address 2019 local Older People’s Commission concerns: reduce impact of poverty & deprivation, mitigate against loneliness & isolation and improve access to services.
• recognise that positive engagement increases sense of wellbeing by up to 20%, most significantly via creative, cultural & physical activity (2017 Index of Wellbeing in Later Life)
• ensure that there is ‘nothing about disabled people without disabled people’ (2018 local Disabled People’s Commission), taking affirmative action on disability issues
