In UCSI University, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has an established track record of training pharmacists and scientists since year 2000. The Faculty offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with emphasis on serving the community. It has collaborations with hospitals, community pharmacies, pharmaceutical and other manufacturing industries.
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences conducts the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) degree plus the Master in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (mixed mode) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Pharmaceutical Sciences. In 2017, the Faculty has launched the Master in Pharmaceutical Technology and Master in Clinical Pharmacy Practice (mixed mode). The Faculty boasts dedicated academic staff, cutting-edge teaching and research facilities with seven fully equipped teaching laboratories and a research laboratory.
The Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) is a four year degree programme which offers an enriching experience to students under the tutelage of the University’s dedicated teaching staff. Our lecturers are active in research and publications. The dissemination of knowledge is enhanced by innovative teaching methods.
During the course, students are exposed to various student-linked experiences such as hospital pharmacy clerkship, community pharmacy clerkship, industrial training; visits to pharmaceutical industries, nursing homes and hospitals. Besides formal lectures, students also receive invaluable practical guidance from external partners, experienced industrial speakers, pharmacists and doctors.
Research is a significant component in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Lecturers who are also experienced researchers lead the Faculty’s postgraduate programmes. This integration of coursework with research findings in our teaching enables learners to understand and extend their power of creative and critical thinking in their pursuit of new knowledge.
