FACE Africa funds and supports sustainable clean water, sanitation and hygiene projects in Liberia. We have a particular interest in empowering young girls and women through access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene - giving them the chance to reap the health, economic and educational benefits.
It is our mission to bring clean drinking water to the most remote areas in Sub-Saharan Africa and what better place to start than one of the most challenging regions, Liberia. How do we succeed where others have tried and failed? the answer is simpler than you might think. We roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty! FACE Africa's model can be described as providing a local solution to a global problem. Our projects utilize local materials, labor, and ingenuity and ownership is transferred to the communities upon completion.
Our organization was born from the ashes of conflict and out of a need to help communities in Liberia build a better life as well as prosper. It began with Fund a Child's Education (FACE) but Founder & CEO Saran Kaba Jones, quickly realized that one of the major impediments to education was the lack of clean drinking water. Children were not attending school for extended periods of time, severely hampering their development.
Since 2009, FACE Africa has raised over $300,000 for clean water projects in Liberia with support from partners like the Voss Foundation, JP Morgan Chase Community Giving, P&G's Covergirl, The Global Neighborhood Fund, and Chevron Liberia. For additional information, please visit www.faceafrica.org.
