FABRICations is a knowledge-intensive design practice, founded in 2007 by Eric Frijters and Olv Klijn. We adopt a ‘research by design’ approach for all our projects to uncover innovative solutions for urban systems and frequently collaborate with leading practices to create forward-thinking design solutions for today's challenges. We have evolved from pioneers to authorities at the intersection of space, design and key themes such as energy transition, climate adaptation, regional metabolism and healthy urbanism. Our core principles are to transform, mix and connect. Recognizing the shift towards knowledge-based economies, we advocate for mixed-use environments that cater to diverse activities in high-quality settings. Globally, we tackle complex issues that require both cultural and technical solutions, emphasizing sustainable design as the way forward.
