Our community-driven image library serves those who appreciate fresh, affordable, high-quality photographs with the assurance that every photographer is fairly rewarded. Building on years of growing our photo community, we decided to build a stock image library that pays photographers a fair share and revolutionise the financial model to benefit both photographers and consumers.
Unlike today’s commission-based stock image libraries that pay photographers a tiny percentage of income from image buyers, the Excio Image Library is membership-based. Instead of selling images, Excio provides a place for its photographers to grow their own abundant library, and for image buyers to join that library.
We created and launched our own handcrafted Excio PhotoTokens - for photographers, a PhotoToken is like a share, which you earn every time you upload a set number of approved images to the library. For image users, a PhotoToken is like a library card that enables them to ‘join’ the library. The price of their PT is currently $500, which includes an annual service fee that enables the token owner to download up to 500 images during the next 12 months. Effectively, it comes to $1/photo for image users while making sure photographers are fairly rewarded through their co-ownership of the Library.
We are championing what we are calling #FairTech. The Excio library will provide thousands, and, in the future, millions, of disadvantaged photographers with sustainable and fair income opportunities.
