Excelsior Recordings - Independent Record Label
Excelsior Recordings was born out of a love - for 7" vinyl, and anger - over almost-famous Dutch band’s Daryll-Ann's luck. First up was a single release; Nothing sucks like Electrolux. So far, so good. Then, pissed at the way things had gone with Daryll-Ann's career in the UK, Producer Frans Hagenaars and manager Ferry Roseboom decided to release a couple of LPs that brought the band critical acclaim.
Since then Excelsior's reputation as a staunchly independent label dealing in quirky, intelligent and accessible pop in the Lowlands has blossomed with the help of releases from Moss, Spinvis, Daily Bread and Hospital Bombers. Johan, Caesar, Spinvis, GEM and Alamo Race Track are some of the label’s biggest names. And it doesn’t end there, as the label has released kid’s early learning audio books, (Eddie Ekster), power-trio rock, (Belgium’s Triggerfinger), and archaic jazz – (the “Blue Flamingo (78RPM)” LP). There’s even a classical album in the pipeline..
