Evergreen Park and Recreation District (EPRD) is a Special District, a form of local government authorized under state law and created to serve the park and recreation needs of its constituents. It is not part of Jefferson County, but a separate entity with its own taxing authority. The District was authorized in January 1969 with the stated purpose of the District was to provide recreational opportunities to its residents and construct a community center with a swimming pool.
Today, EPRD serves approximately 23,000 people within the communities of Evergreen, Bergen Park, Indian Hills, Kittredge, and Marshdale, and many more without. The District is one of the largest in the state, covering 50,000 acres (78 square miles) in the foothills west of Denver. It is governed by a Board of Directors elected by residents of the District.
EPRD boasts a vast array of programs, activities and attractions for the community and visitors to enjoy, all for a reasonable cost. They include:

--Evergreen Lake Skating Rink
--a number of parks and athletic fields
Special events include the Evergreen Summer Concert Series, Evergreen Trail Racing Series, Evergreen Kids Triathlon, Glow Run 5K, Evergreen Dawn to Dusk Trail Race, and others.
